Every time something hasn’t turned out exactly perfect today, I automatically chalked it up to the whole “it’s Monday” mentality.
I grabbed a pear for breakfast, but it was too ripe and squishy. Oh, Monday. I didn’t have any mail in the mailbox. That’s cruel, Monday. I have a mountain of dirty, stinky laundry and just ran out of fabric softener. Monday strikes again! I have to learn a gazillion new songs on the piano in C#. Nice one, Monday. I slept too late to make lunch, so I sent Timothy to work with half a bag of Doritos and a Ramen Noodle packet. It’s all Monday’s fault.
That crazy Monday.
But, Monday? If you could arrange to have this sent to my doorstep, I would never use your name in vain again.
I think I’ve found my cookie jar soulmate. He needs me.

After I learned how to knit a couple of headbands (like this one and this one), the “bug” hit me. I decided to try and make as many of my accessories as I could. Here lately, I’ve been experimenting with felt flowers. You can just simply type “felt flower” on Etsy, and be greeted with a multitude of loveliness. So with all that inspiration floating in my brain, I got my trusty hot glue gun, some needle and thread, and some lovely shades of felt out and went to town.
And as for my aforementioned fashion obsession, just pay attention in these photos and you’ll most likely catch on.
I was really happy with the way this one turned out, but it took me AGES to make it look the way I wanted. I made my own petal templates, cut them out of the felt, and then stitched them all together.
It probably wouldn’t have taken me so long if I actually knew how to sew or was following some sort of tutorial. But a girl’s gotta learn somehow! (Not pictured are the various rejects – I probably made about five of these before one turned out cute!)
I think this one is my favorite. My mom showed me how to make the flowers, and then I just kept making one after another! After I grouped them in a way that I thought was pretty, I hot glued them to a large piece of felt and put a pin on it to create this mega floral mass. These things are addicting!
*Side note: my amazing friend, Bailey, straightened my hair for me. My little hairs are so confused – they haven’t been this frizz free since birth! What an amazing feeling! That is until I wash my hair again and my frizz triumphantly returns in all its curly glory.*
These flowers are like the ones above, but they aren’t attached to each other. That way you can just place them wherever you want. I think it would be cool to pin a gazillion of these cascading down the side of your shirt.
And lastly, there’s this purple pin. I actually made three of these. I just couldn’t stop myself!
So, did any of you guess my fashion obsession? Yup, it’s this gray sweater. Actually, it’s any gray sweater. I have three and I love them with all with a fiery passion. I just think it’s amazing how versatile they are. I wore the same sweater in each of these photos, and it works in every one of them!
Just mix in some accessories, tank tops, frilly shirts, and different colored skirts and you are set. Sweaters = love.
Now, it’s time for the truth. What do you guys think about these pins? Weird? Cool? Boring? Coolest thing since sliced bread? I’d really like to hear! You guys have given me AMAZING advice every time I’ve asked for it. I haven’t actually worn any of these pins out of the house. Timothy says they’re cool, but he’s my husband and he thinks my feet look cool when I wear super furry socks. So I’d like to get a little more input. Haha!

Yesterday, I took my Papa to the airport, and then my Bibi and I spent the rest of the day at thrift stores. (Papa and Bibi are my mom’s parents.) We had the best time! We found some pretty sweet treasures, which I’ll share with you after they get a little t.l.c. And possibly some spray paint.
One thing that really caught my eye yesterday was this.
Isn’t it amazing? It’s a quilt covered in yo yos. (yo-yos? yoyos? yo-yoes? hmmmm.)
It was an expensive $250 at a flea market, but Bibi quickly told me that I could make my own and then explained the steps. It actually sounds pretty easy! I’m not crazy about the colors in this quilt but I can just imagine it in complementary colors. Wouldn’t it be beautiful?
I tried to find a yo yo quilt online to show you what I’m thinking of, but I couldn’t find any that I really loved. They were mostly made in a smorgasbord of colors. I did find this sweet variation on the quilt, however.

Those are HUGE! I love this quilt, it looks just like something out of an Anthropologie catalog.
I also found this pillow. It’s not a quilt, but it’s in beautiful colors.
I think picking a more limited color palette keeps it from looking so busy.
But then again,
Doesn’t this just bring a gigantic smile to your face? What could go wrong when you’re covered in a handmade yo yo quilt?
Nothing, that’s what!
Have any of you seen these yo yo quilts before? Do you love them as much as I do? Do share!

Something isn’t right in this picture. Can you find what it is?
The hideous mobile home door? The wood trim? The Valentines wreath that’s still out? Or the absurd amount of blu-rays Timothy has collected with money that should have gone to shoes for me?
If any of those were your guesses, I’m sad to say you’re wrong. Still need some help?
Yup. Right there. The trash can blocking the doorway.
But what doesn’t belong in this picture is oh-so-right in my book. Why, you may ask? Well, we have a trash war in our house.
Timothy forgets to take it out and I refuse to touch it because I’m a lady. And ladies don’t take out the trash. After over a year of marriage, I have realized that men’s brains are *different.* They don’t forget on purpose. It just happens. Don’t ask me how, because I don’t understand it.
It’s just the way it is. I wonder if Adam ate the fruit Eve gave him because He just forgot that God told him no? Ha!
So this dear, out of place trash can is the best thing that happened to us. I usually leave for work before Timothy, so this morning I just drug the trash can into the living room so he would see it when he left. It helped him remember, I didn’t have to actually touch the offending garbage, and we went along our day full of marital bliss.
In the words of Tim Gunn, we “make it work.”

The Goodwill in Seymour, Indiana has a really sweet set of chairs.
That is, they’d be really sweet if you give them some love. They definitely need a paint job and some new cushions. They have 6 of them (as of 4:00 today) and they are $5 each.
So if any of you dear readers are looking for some cheap, diy-able, and potentially cute chairs – I think these are awesome!
That branch of Goodwill is also currently selling rolls of toilet paper for $0.50 each. If you’re needing some toilet paper, and you’re interested in these … then something is *really* wrong with you! Ha! How gross is this?!
Happy Monday, everyone!
