A Birthday Secret
My birthday is coming up in 17 days. Just letting you know in case you want to send presents my way. Ha!
This time of year is a lot of fun to be in my family. August to February is crammed with birthdays and anniversaries. We love celebrating, so we really get into planning things and keeping secrets. Right now, I pretty much know a secret about every person in my immediate family. Oh yeahhhh.
Marrying Timothy made this whole season even more fun. He’s pretty bad at keeping secrets. I can usually wiggle my way into making him confess. But after nearly two years of marriage, I think my secret keeping skills have brushed off on him.
About a month ago I overheard Timothy talking to my mom on the phone and could tell that he was keeping a secret from me. All I could get him to tell me was that it was a secret about my birthday. Then a few weeks ago he told me that he was no longer doing whatever his first secret was and he now had a new secret. He’s exhausting.
Well, last night we were talking about blogging and people I have “met” through my blog. And he eventually blabbed his first secret. And it was pretty amazing.
Timothy: You bloggers have your own community. You should just have this huge convention thing where you can all meet. Do people ever make real friends out of blogging?
Whitney: Yeah, I think so. People just comment to each other enough and then you eventually meet in person. It happens.
T: I wonder how they do it? I tried to get you to meet the people from Young House Love.
W: Umm… what????
T: For your birthday. I had it all planned out. Well, sort of. Young House Love would pick you up at the airport, because obviously I would fly you. They’d pick you up in their minivan. They wouldn’t be in a limo – they’re not celebrities. Bloggers drive minivans.
W: You can’t be serious.
T: But then I realized it would just be awkward. You’d get to their house and you’d be super excited for 30 minutes. But then you all wouldn’t know what to do. That’s just awkward.
W: You can’t be serious.
T: So I searched through the rest of the blogs you have on your page and looked to see if anyone offered tours or signing events. I guess bloggers don’t do that.
W: You can’t be serious.
T: That was the secret I had with your Mom. She said you would love it!
W: You can’t be serious.
T: What??? If you sent me to meet Michael Jordan, that’d be the best day of my life. He’d pick me up in a limo. And then we would play basketball all day in one of his outdoor courts. Best day ever.
And then I spent the next 15 minutes laughing until I started wheezing. That was the best birthday secret ever.

Awww, I’d love to! We’d have so much fun!
Ahaha! That’s pretty awesome that he came up with that idea! Yea, my bf doesn’t really get it when I say “my blogging friends”. Lol! It’s pretty awesome to “meet” new blogging friends though! :)
I agree! You can have friends that you don’t know in person, right? Ha!
Awwww!! How sweet!! You can tell him my Bday is next Monday… :) !!
Last year my hubby surprised me with the diaper bag I had dreamed about. It was such a surprise! He had kept it a secret and when it didn’t come in on time, he printed out a picture and cut it out (handle and everything) and gave it to me. It was so sweet, since gift-giving isn’t really his forte.
Happy soon-to-be birthday! That’s so sweet about your husband! What a great memory :)
Haha, hilarious! That would’ve been seriously awesome, though!! And a huge convention where we could meet all of our favorite bloggers would pretty much be the best thing ever :)
For real! I would just walk around drooling :D
Haha. So funny.
This is so cute !!! I wonder if it could really happen ;)
[...] year for my birthday, Timothy thought about arranging some kind of meeting. Remember that? Bless his heart. BUT. Believe it or not, the boy made it happen this year for my birthday! [...]
