So I was taking a break from my knitting to look at blogs about knitting when I saw this picture:

Aye carumba.  I feel like this just screams, “Whitney, put the needles and hooks DOWN NOW, while you can still save yourself!”

I mean, come on guys, a crocheted toilet paper holder?  The poor, poor husband of the wife who went overboard.  It would almost be worth it just to crochet up one of these so I could see Timothy’s reaction.

I can remember my grandma having one of these fancy toilet paper covers in her guest bathroom.

My question to this is: why?  Who was the person that looked at a roll of toilet paper and thought, “Hmmm.  You know what would make this look awesome?  Plopping a Barbie on top of that and crocheting a ruffly skirt.  No one will have to know she’s hiding toilet paper!”

I can only imagine the revolution that would have occurred if Etsy had existed in that generation.  Ruffly crochet covers for everything!

And again, the poor, poor husband.  Maybe this is why my grandma kept her Barbie toilet paper cover in the guest bathroom?

I wonder what my grandchildren’s generation is going to laugh at.  Are they going to look at pictures of now-trendy things like bunting, chalkboard walls, and newborn babies photographed in crazy crocheted hats and think, why?

Oh, surely not. Ha!

What are some trends that you think we’ll be laughing at in a few years?  Gallery walls?  Mason jars everywhere? Knit cowls?  DIY-ed everything?

I can’t lie, I kind of love this and might consider making it because it’s hilarious. What a good conversation topic for guests! “Uhh, is that a barbie torso in your bathroom?”

Wow, that bathroom is crazy! And I remember the barbie-doll TP covers – I distinctly remember a blue and white ruffled one in the bathroom of the lady my brother and I stayed with when my little brother was being born. Crazy, huh? I was only 3 and I still can picture that thing.

Have you heard of “guerilla knitting” or “yarn bombing”? It’s almost like a modern version of what happened to that bathroom. Look it up on google images or check out the photos in this blog I came across: http://cheekbonesandcouture.wordpress.com/2012/04/09/guerilla-knitting/

That bathroom is only missing one thing:

    - actual knitted toilet paper, yep.

Oh goodness, that first picture makes me what to curl up into a fetal position and cry “make it go away!” :)

This made me laugh out loud! It’s like looking at pictures of our parents hair/clothing styles when they were young–except with a bathroom/decor! hahaha So hilarious!
