Remember this skill that I learned the other day? Don’t be jealous of how even and beautiful my stitches were. We can’t all be perfect. Ha!

Anyway, I was stitching felt letters to go on a Valentine wreath! I’ve been wanting some kind of wreath for our house. I mean, “wreath” practically shouts “hello!  This is a house where the wife totally has it going on.”  Think June Cleaver or the Proverbs 31 woman.  I’m sure both of them had a wreath on their front door.

To begin my wreath quest I headed to my local thrift store (Goodwill, of course) and picked up some items that had seen better days.

A large knit sweater and something that resembled a wreath.  I think that glob of ribbon was supposed to be a bow.  June Cleaver would not have been proud.

After bringing home these two unwanted items, I grabbed some felt, hot glue, and a notepad to sketch out my ideas.

Then after a bit of trial and error, this is what I came up with!

My very own love inspired wreath!

Don’t look too closely at the stitches.  It’s the thought that counts, right?

.

And here’s the owl couple.  The girl one has a ruffly belly and the boy one has a manly striped belly.  Hmm.  That’s a weird sentence.

I made their wings heart-shaped and tried my best to get them to look adoringly at each other.  I’m not sure if I succeeded with that.  I kind of think they look a bit unsure of each other.  Oh well.

.

Then I knit a little bow wreath hanger to top it all off.

.

Well, there it is!  I recently read an article on Curbly about showing your home some Valentines love.  It was a really sweet idea.  So home, Happy Love Day!  You’re a good home.

If any of you are interested, I’ll post later about how I made it.  It would be a really fun craft all year around!

Oh, and I linked it up to the Project ReStyle group.  Project ReStyle is all about taking unwanted items and creating lovely new things from them!
