When this post publishes, I’ll be in Florida – oh happy day!!!

As I write this, it’s around 9:30 Sunday night.  Our group of nearly 40 are going to meet at the church at 3:00 am.  Yes, 3 in the morning.  I’m so excited that my heart is fluttering!

Timothy and I just finished our monumental packing and we’re watching Lie to Me. I’m also loading my iPod with Christmas music.  Our flight home is the day after Thanksgiving, so I have to be prepared!

But back to the monumental packing.  Packing as a wife is a completely different story than packing alone.  Before the Mrs. days, I would spend days getting ready for NYC (National Youth Convention).  I would plan all my outfits, try them on, and then try random pieces of clothes on together to see if genius would strike.  I would be in my own bubble, happy to be surrounded by clothes.  All I had to worry about was me, me, me.

Packing with a husband involves using every ounce of brain space available.  Not only do I need to keep my stuff together, but I need to help him too.  Give him my opinions on his clothes.  Help him remember how many church services there will be.  Look at our respective outfits and make sure we don’t clash too horribly or match too much.  Oh, and remind him that it’s Florida and he doesn’t need his new jacket.

In short, packing with a husband is everything I’ve dreamed of.  I’ve had 22 years of girly clothes and accessories, and now I get to help make outfits from guy clothes?  Sa-weet!  I may roll my eyes at him when he starts to pack his coat, but I really love every minute of it.  (Hopefully he doesn’t read this and find out my secret!)  I love feeling like I can take care of him and help him look his best.

What I love about being a wife is that I can still enjoy dressing up and taking care of my appearance.  Husbands like that.  But I can also get involved in his life and his fashion.  I’ve learned all kinds of things about the cuts of suits and the shapes of shirt collars.  Packing for a big event like NYC makes me feel like we’re Barbie and Ken and we’re dressing up as a husband and wife.  I wonder if that feeling of pretending or playing house will  go away after we’ve been married for awhile?  I sure hope not.

For any of you that are attending NYC, I hope to see you there!  It’s going to be awesome!

These ridiculously gorgeous pictures are from here.
