Smells and Dreams
So things have been pretty quiet around here. For like a month. …cricket cricket…
You see, I’ve been up to my eyeballs in children and teenagers and textbooks and smells and dreams. Does that sentence even make sense?
Let me back up a bit. Timothy and I have had a pretty big dream that we’ve been a-dreamin’ since we got married. We honestly thought it wouldn’t happen for us for years down the road. But then earlier this month a little something happened that planted an idea in Timothy’s head. ”Let’s go for it,” the boy said. My heart replied, “Yeah right. As if!” But my mouth settled on a tentative “okay?”
Since that time we’ve been praying and researching and talking and dreaming and working and all of that and some more. Aaaaaaaaaaand …
We’re buying a house!
A real one. With a driveway and a tree and everything. Our trailer park neighborhood was lacking in those two crucial areas. And about a billion other ones.
I honestly can’t believe it. Right now the closing date is set for October 4th, but it could be earlier or later. And as soon as it’s set and we get the keys, you better bet your boots that I’ll share a full on house tour! We couldn’t be more in love with our future home. I could go on for days blabbing about it, but I’ll make myself wait until we have better pictures than the ones we hurriedly snapped on our phones.
But there is one thing I can’t wait to tell you: WE HAVE A MINT GREEN TUB! … AND A LAUNDRY CHUTE! Okay that’s two, but you’ve got to admit – those are two pretty awesome things.
Yet what does all this have to do with the whole “up to my eyeballs in children and teenagers and textbooks and smells and dreams” thing? Well, to make a little extra money to help with the closing costs and, who am I kidding, to set up a decorating fund, I’ve been taking on a little extra work. Like two more jobs. I still work as the Administrative Assistant at my church, but I’ve also been subbing for our local school and baby-sitting two little boys after school.
And that’s where the children and all the smells come in. I mean seriously. I’ve subbed for children and teens of all ages this past month and do they EVER stop smelling? And PICKING THEIR NOSE? I had to break up a fight the other day because one boy kept picking his nose and rubbing his discovered treasures on another boy. Seriously?
So life has been an exciting whirlwind of an adventure for us this past month. What have you been up to?
~Whitney

Yay! So happy for you & your hubby! Can’t wait to see all the pics of your home.
So glad to hear that you guys are buying a house – isn’t it super exciting?? Just wait until you finish moving all of your stuff in & realize that it is actually YOURS =) Hope you & your family are well. Maybe we’ll see you at the Ladies’ Retreat.
Congratulations! Now the fun begins…decorating! I can’t wait to see a full house tour!
Congrats on the new house!!
It must feel so awesome to be able to live in a “real” house again (from a fellow trailer dweller. :))
Congrats on the house. Tubs & tile of all crazy colors can be covered with special paint at a very reasonable price. Just remember that! :) If it wasn’t for paint, we would be stuck in the 1950′s everytime we entered our house.
That is SO exciting, Whitney! The house part, not the smelly, nose-picking children part :) Can’t wait to see it!!
Congrats on the new house! Can’t wait to see it!
