(during important games all the Gothras have to rock out the Celtics shirts.  It’s sadly a family rule.)

Basketball, oh basketball.  How you drive me so crazy.  And the scary part?  You’re sucking me in!  The other day I caught myself daydreaming about who my favorite basketball player was.  (The answer was Rondo of course.  He’s just too awesome.)

But Timothy told me good news.  The playoffs only last one more week! …  Um, that would have been good news back when basketball season started. In December.  Seven months ago.

But anyway.  I love my husband.  In all his forms.  Even when he’s jumping up and down in our living room screaming for me to come watch the instant replay of some guy throwing a ball around.

Yet there’s something about basketball season that has allowed me to get away with a lot.

“Hey honey, I know we’re saving money right now, but I would really like to buy some paint for my craft room.”  “Okay! Man, the Celtics are killing it!”

“Wow, I’ve been painting and diy-ing all day.  I don’t really feel like cooking dinner.”  “No problem!  I’m gonna go pick us up some McDonald’s.  If I leave right now I can get back in time for the game!”

“I want to hang a whole bunch of stuff on our walls.  Probably some girly stuff.”  ”Whoa!  Ray Allen just dunked it!  Um, yeah sweety, hang whatever!”

“I’m sorry I burnt dinner tonight.”  “Huh?  I didn’t even notice it – Ray!  Where’s the hustle?!”

I wish I had figured out this phenomenon a little earlier.  I’m going to be more prepared next time.  I’m really hoping the Celtics make it all the way to the end of the final playoffs.  I have a few things I’d like to ask him during that game.  Ha!

Are there any other ladies out there facing the same issue?  How do you cope?  I can only imagine what life will be like if we have boys.  I’m going to need a vacation during playoffs.

I’ve always considered myself blessed because Andy is not into sports at all….but I never considered the perks I could have if he was engrossed in the action! lol I do get tickled at Timothy’s FB posts during a game….he’s definitely a fan!

Loved this post. It made me laugh! You have let the proverbial cat out of the bag, yet your secret is still intact. Remember, us sports-crazy, basketball-watching dudes can only use one thought box at a time. Your strategy will work next season. By the way, next season will start in October. Ha!

My solution to the craziness during the playoffs was simple: I made him buy another t.v.!!! That way I can leave the him alone to yell and scream at the refs and the players as though they can hear him and go watch HGTV or Lifetime in the other room. :0)
